Asus recently confirmed they were going release some new ultrabooks in their home country Taiwan. We can now confirm that Asus are bringing four ultrabooks to the US market.

The ultrabooks feature the latest Intel Core processor most commonly known as Ivy Bridge. They will also have 1080p IPS displays. The four models that will be released in the US are the UX21A, UX31A, UX32A and UX32VD. All of the ultrabooks will have a 1920×1080 display, including the UX21A which will have an 11 inch display, while the other three ultrabooks feature a 13 inch display. They will also feature a re-tooled keyboard, which makes the pitch 12% deeper as well as being backlit. The touchpad has also been tweaked.

The UX32A uses hybrid hard drives, while the UX31A uses SSD. The UX32VD differs to the UX31A as it has an NVIDIA GT 620M GPU but, apart from that they are pretty much identical. The 13 inch models will start at $999 but, as of yet there is no pricing information for the 11 inch UX21A but, we do know that there will be two different configuration models. One with an i5 processor and 128GB SSD, while the other configuration will have an i7 and an optional 256GB drive. Other than announcing the ultrabooks for the US, there’s no information on a release date.

Lenovo’s new Intel Ivy bridge-based line of notebooks called the Thinkpad have finally been revealed. One of the more notable models is the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

As an ultrabook, this laptop complies with Intel’s requirement of having a thin and lightweight body weighing only three pounds. It also features a matte high resolution display with 1600 x 900 pixels. The carbon fiber casing is also matte, with a fingerprint resistant finish.

Under the hood, it runs on an Intel core processor with a CPU speed of 1700 Mhz. It also comes with a 131072 MB solid state disk for storage and Intel HD 4000 for the graphics processing; a 4096 MB of RAM is available.

Lenovo’s TrackPoint system is present on the device which has a touchpad integrated with a pointing nub. A special rapid charging technology enables the device to be charged for up to 80 percent in as little as 30 minutes.

Present on the physical interface are a fingerprint scanner, a 3.5 mm headphones jack, Mini Displayport, SDHC Card Slot, and USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.

Lenovo hasn’t revealed a price for this notebook yet. However, judging from the trend with other ultrabooks, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon will likely have a price tag under $1000.

Tablets running on Windows 8 and Intel hardware will start to be available come November this year.

Half of these Windows 8 tablets will have convertible and unconventional designs that will enable users to switch between a laptop and a tablet. Intel had already previewed one of these designs which they called Nikikski, a device with a transparent touchpad, during CES in January.

The Windows 8 tablets with Intel hardware will have an Atom Clover Trail processor, which Intel is pushing for mobile devices against ARM. Intel Clover Trail is based partly on a single core Medfield CPU with a 32 nm manufacturing process, which was demoed in this year’s CES in a Lenovo phone.

However, Intel has upped the ante by making it dual-core, ensuring faster computing speeds for the new Windows 8 tablets. As compared with Ivy Bridge processors, Clover Trail uses less power. Allegedly in the works also at Intel is a new CPU called Intel Bay Trail, which will have a 22 nm process with 3G and 4G capability .

Meanwhile, Windows is also debuting a Windows-based tablet with an ARM processor, Intel’s fiercest competitor in the mobile niche, as many portable devices now run on ARM.

However over on Sony’s German site, the specifications sheet lists the T13 ultrabook to come with one of Intel’s latest chips on board. The Intel Core i5-3317U, aka Ivy Bridge is currently found in Samsung’s Series 9.

It’s unknown whether the i5 processor will replace the i3 or, if it will be a different or customizable model.

CES 2012 held last January has introduced one of the Acer’s newest products, the Aspire S5 ultrabook. Yet there weren’t official pricing and launching details announced then. But according to a source, this ultra portable laptop seems to go on sale this coming June in United Arab Emirates which was tentatively priced at $1400.

The Aspire S5 is a 13.3-incher ultrabook with a fine 1366 x 768-pixel display resolution. In terms of memory storage, the ultra slim notebook PC is outfitted a maximum RAM of 8 GB plus a 128 GB of Solid State Disk. This ultrabook will ship with Intel’s latest Ivy processor running on Windows 7 Operating System.

One unique feature of Acer Aspire S5 that stands out with the rest of ultrabook kinds is a Magic Flip screen on the back part of the notebook. You just need to press a key and the panel will flip to unleash the set of ports including USB, HDMI and other connectors.

This 0.6-inch inch thick ultrabook will soon be available to other countries as well, but without definite date for now.

Asus has revealed an upcoming ultrabook which boasts of a 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT620M graphics card running alongside an Intel Ivy Bridge processor. Called the Zenbook UX32VD ultrabook, this device was seen at a recent event in Taiwan.

The Zenbook UX32VD joins the slew of powerful new devices including two ultrabooks, called the UX21A and UX31A. Both of these devices have high resolution screens of 1920 x 1080 pixels measuring 11.6 and 13.3 inches diagonally.

Meanwhile, the Zenbook UX32VD ultrabook is packed with the third generation Ivy Bridge processor which has integrated graphics. This technology enables the ultra slim notebook to support full HD 1080p videos as well as 3D gaming. The device will also come with a Solid State Disk (SSD) and wireless display (WiDi) functionality.

Several flavors of this ultrabook are expected to hit the market, which could retail from $800 to over $1000. The cheaper models will have a Hard Disk Drive instead of a Solid State Disk, and a lower native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. These budget devices will also not have NVIDIA graphics, which significantly raises the price of the ultrabooks.

When the first batch of Windows 8-powered devices arrives in the market, you’ll have the option to choose something that runs on either Intel or ARM. As you may already know, this is in part due to the two different flavors of Windows 8 that will be coming out. First, there is a standard, kind of desktop-like Windows 8 version that is effectively the next level of the x86 platform, and then there’s the ARM-flavored Windows 8 version (called Windows RT) for mobile devices with an emphasis on maximum computing power with the lowest TDP and longest battery life. Today, during during a meeting with investors at their headquarters in Santa Clara, California, Intel CEO Paul Otellini took the time to mention something that’s going to set Intel-powered Windows 8 devices apart from those that are running on ARM: legacy mode.

Legacy mode allows users to switch out of Windows 8′s standard Metro style option and use legacy programs, particularly enterprise apps that have been around for a very long time. “We have the advantage of the incumbency, advantage of the legacy support. Not just in terms of applications but devices,” said Otellini to Intel investors during the meeting. ARM’s lack of support for legacy mode leaves Otellini confident. The Intel CEO was quoted as saying, “I think they have a big uphill fight.”

Currently, there seems to be a lot of interest in upcoming Windows 8 devices, regardless of whether they are running on chips from either Intel or ARM. It would be interesting to see how the market adapts to the availability of two different types of devices which effectively open the door to two separate universes.

HP is now on a race of putting up a bunch of ultrabooks purposely made for different users. Today, the company’s product would charm the entrepreneurs, since it’ll be giving the HP’s first business-class ultra portable notebook PC named as EliteBook Folio.

The laptop is a 14-incher unit with a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution display. It weighs about 3.6 lbs and 0.75-inch thick– a bit lighter than the HP Envy 14 or 15 models, but quite heavier than the HP Envy SpectreXT notebook.

The EliteBook Folio outfits unordinary feature of typical ultrabooks through its user replaceable battery. The notebook PC equips with a backlit keyboard and a 4-cell, 52Whr battery that’s removable. Also it offers a 6-cell, 60Whr battery piece which can last up to 20 hours of continuous usage.

Moreover, this slim notebook comes with a maximum 16 GB of RAM, up to 500 GB of internal storage, 7200RPM hard drive and 256 GB solid state cache. It also brings the second gen Intel core processors and will just get Ivy Bridge updates later this year.

The HP ultrabook supports a DisplayPort, a Smart Card reader, three USB 3.0 ports, VGA and Ethernet outputs as well as a fingerprint scanner. Also, the Elitebook Folio has sustained TPM security for full volume encryption.

Sadly, releasing date wasn’t able to announced, yet it is expected that the HP ultrabook will be priced for $1149 and up.

Lighter and thinner notebook PCs are called ultrabooks. They’re designed to be more powerful, but also created to be more expensive than usual laptops. How come? Viably, this is typically due to the advance Intel processors and quality components including the Solid State Disks encompassing these ultrabooks.

Along with those, ultrabook models are usually held in strong metal cases for their premium parts’ protection. Yet these outer shelves don’t come inexpensive; hence, Intel suggested an alternative to ease the high price dilemma of consumers.

One great idea from Intel is the usage of plastic casing as sturdy as metals, if not quite as eye-catching. As for Focus Taiwan, Intel anticipates ultrabooks with price tags for as low as $599 to release in the second half of 2012. Nonetheless, this case design is made to lessen the expense of consumers of at least $200 from the most recent price of $800 for ultrabook models these days.

A more inexpensive ultrabooks will as well be seem to incorporate hybrid storage featuring a larger hard drive and solid state disk for hoard; much alike with the scheme executed by the Acer Aspire S3 and some current ultrabook models.
