The UMID M1 might not be the best handheld device out there for mobile computing, but there are certainly people willing to pay for it. So of course, there are also people willing to sell it. French technology group Sagemcom wishes to have a piece of the small UMID M1 pie and so have decided to rebrand it as the Spiga PocketBook, a variant with a 1.1GHz Intel Atom CPU, 8GB SSD storage and built-in 3G connectivity. It’s going to be priced €499 (about $742 USD) and might possibly go for lower if carrier subsidies happen somehow. It’s not a bad little contraption, but as Pocketables points out it makes little sense to get the Spiga PocketBook for about the same price as a “real” (non-rebranded) UMID M1 that offers more. But well, people have their reasons.

Yes, two 10-inch LCD on your netbook, can you believe that?

Anyway, what’s so interesting about this netbook is the fact that the LCD can sit on top of each other. Meaning when you need only one LCD to work with, you can always slide it in to hide behind the back of the other LCD.

Pretty cool, right? Specs-wise this Kohjinsha netbook boasts of an AMD Athlon NeoMv-40 (1.6GHz) CPU, 4GB of RAM, 160 GB of HDD and a dual 10.1-inch wide LCD.

No words on pricing and release date yet or whether Kohjinsha is already manufacturing this netbook. But enjoy some more photos below.

We don’t normally cover umpc/tablet PC-related news on this blog. But with Asus about to release its first convertible netbook, it’s about time we pay particular attention to other UMPCs that are coming out in the market too.

First, off is Kojinsha’s new 7-inch convertible PC which is said to be an improved version of their previously released SC3. This still unnamed UMPC will feature a 1.3Ghz Menlow platform with GPS, SD card slong, PCI Express card slot, VGA-out and LAN connection. The said UMPC will also have WiFi module.

And if UMPCportal’s informant are correct, the said Kojinsha machine might just support Windows 7 as well. In addition, the machine might also sport a dual camera, according to their sources.

No words yet on the other particulars of this Kojinsha, but do stay tune as we bring you more information once we found some.

Specifications are nothing out of the ordinary with this netbook being packed with an Atom N270 processor and coming installed with 1GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD. Nothing too exciting but, with pricing of 49,800 Japanese Yen ($500 US), it could be a solid buy.

Japanese netbook company Kohjinsha and Bandai are joining forces to produce a limited edition netbook aimed at Japanese kids – the Gachapin and Mukku Netbook. Gachapin and Mukku are popular TV characters in Japan and the two companies are hoping to cash in on the popularity of the two cuddly creatures by creating a lime green netbook which is based on the Kohjinsha ML netbook series.

Specifications for this limited edition model include an 8.9 inch display, Intel Atom processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD and a TV tuner and it is priced at 79,900 Yen which is roughly $870 US and 20,000 Yen more than the Kohjinsha ML netbook – quite expensive for the same specs and a lot of brightly colored branding. This one is definitely for the kids unless you have the need for a funky green netbook that is.
