MSI UK Offers the Wind U100 for Free

MSI is not going to give up easily its major netbook model the MSI Wind U100. While everybody else is coming up with new netbooks loaded with Windows 7 and all the works, MSI decided to upgrade the Wind U100’s specs to make it run on Windows 7.

So now the Wind U100 is loaded with Intel Atom N80 with 1.66GHz speed and a 250GB HDD, just about enough to effectively run Windows 7 starter edition.

All the other specs and design features remain the same though. Price? This new Wind U100 will most likely go for around 349 Euros.

MSI Loads the Wind U100 with Windows 7

Pictured above is Quake III running at an average of about 35 FPS on an external monitor while connected to an MSI Wind U115–running Linux! Moblin Linux, that is. Intel’s Atom Z530 processor and GMA 500 graphics work in tandem for this one, and it’s pretty good work indeed. The same netbook was also demoed with other mobile devices playing HD video rather competently. To see the netbook in fragging action, continue reading for a video after the break.

Netbook with Moblin Linux, GMA500 graphics run Quake III and HD video easy

MSI just announced two upgraded models of its Wind Box – the DE200 and DC200. These two nettops are both equipped with Intel Atom 230 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD and Windows XP Home.

Other usual nettop goodies are also included including Wi-Fi, 2 USB ports, and 6-in-1 card readers. An HDMI video out was added for the Wind Box DE200 for HD video playback as well as a discrete graphicto support up to DX9.

As you may have noticed, these specs may not be something to die for, but still good enough to bump up the capabilities of these two nettops nonetheless.

MSI Wind Box DE200 and DC200 Available Now for Pre-Order

Following the availability of the MSI Wind U110 Eco in Amazon a couple of days ago, we now have the same netbook showing up over at Newegg.com.

In case you’re interested with the MSI Wind U110 Eco, prepare to spend around $399. For that price you’ll get some nice specs heralded by a 9-cell battery boasting of up to 15 hours of battery life.

As  a review here are the specs of the MSI Wind U110 ECO:

Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz CPU, GMA500 graphcis, 1GB of RAM, 160GB of HDD, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 1.3 MP webcam, 3 USB ports and 4-in-1 card reader. This netbook’s RAM can be upgraded up to 3GB and so we heard.

MSI Wind U110 Eco Arrives in Newegg.com

The MSI Wind U115 netbook sans dual storage and dubbed as the Wind U110 Eco is now finally available for the U.S. market, via Amazon.com. If you will recall, the MSI Wind U110 this netbook was announced by MSI earlier this year but it is only now that it is finally being pushed to the market.

As a review, the MSI Wind U110 Eco netbook boasts of features such as Intel Atom Z530 CPU, GMA 500 graphics, 1GB of RAM (upgradeable to 2GB), 10-inch 1024×600 display, 160 GB of HDD, 1.3/2.0 MP webcam, 4-in-1 card reader, Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth.

The Wind U110 ECO also boasts of  a 3-cell or 6-cell battery pack which reports say can max out up 9 hours usage.

This netbook can be had for around $399 at Amazon.

MSI Wind U110 Eco Available in Amazon

While there may still be no sign of the MSI Wind U200 in the US, the netbook/CULV PC is making it’s way to a few European websites. We first saw the CULV netbook available for pre-order from Notebook.de a few weeks back. At the time there was no specific release date, apart from an availability of “3-4 weeks”. The website also didn’t provide a definite price, but was estimated at €629.

The MSI Wind U200 is now available to purchase from Notebook.de at a lower price than expected. The netbook is available for €599. The netbook is also available on Amazon.de for €611.22.

For a real bargain though, Blogeee are reporting that LDLC.com have the netbook listed for much less. From LDLC the netbook is more than 100 Euros less at €479.95.

That MSI Wind U210 pre-order page put up by Amazon a couple of days ago is true after all. The online store is now listing the said 12.1-inch netbook with limited stocks. So, if you’ve been waiting for this “not running Intel Atom CPU” netbook to come out, you might want to enter your order immediately as we’re pretty sure stocks are limited.

The 12-inch MSI Wind U210 is not about to be released in the U.S. yet. In fact there has not official announcement coming from MSI as to when it will start hitting U.S. store shelves.  But this will not stop Amazon.com from offering the MSI U210 for pre-order as early as now, knowing fully well that it has started showing up in Europe.

And here are the published specs of the MSI Wind U210 from Amazon’s pre-order page:
