The Handii BC9 business tablet looks to be the perfect companion for the working man outside the office. I doubt if you can suggest anything that can match it when it comes to features. I mean, what other business tablet announced and released recently comes with a built-in Ethernet port? I’ll tell you what – nothing. The Dell Streak? Apple iPad? Asus EeePad? Those have got nothing on the Handii BC9 and its built-in Ethernet port. Nope. That aside, it also features VIA C7 -M 772 Esther processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB memory, 32GB SSD, S3G UniChrome Pro II 128MB and an 8.9-inch touchscreen display. You will also find it has 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a webcam, 3G broadband modem, accelerometer, VGA-out port and 2 USB ports. What else would anyone need? It is currently being sold in the APAC region for $578 USD without 3G and $651 with 3G.

For US$243, you get a barebones mini PC that should do well for a living room, kitchen or car computer. Don’t expect this to handle any heavy work very well. It’s pretty light though, you can probably stick it behind an LCD display no problem.

What VIA left out are the RAM, hard drive and operating system which you should be able to get on your own. If you want one, just grab it from VIA’s store.

It won’t break the bank though since it clocks in at a mere US$65. If you can stand the slow processor, tiny screen and cramped keyboard, the link below should help you get one of these or maybe a truckload for those who want to resell them.

2.5″ SATA drive bay

CF card slot

USB x 2, LAN x 2, COM and serial ports, VGA out, headphone and mic jacks

This unit is VESA mountable and is shock-resistant, provided you use SSD drives. It can run Windows Xp and 7 as well as various flavors of Linux. This small form factor computer looks pretty at home for mobile and industrial use and even for retail establishments that need a computer but has no space to spare for one.

No price and availability yet.

If you’re itching to get a smartbook but don’t have the cash or patience to wait for the release of those announced in CES 2010 (ahem, Skylight), Haleron might have a cure for you.

This is actually a netbook with a 7″ form factor but Haleron thought it fit to call it a smartbook, you know, to cash in on the trend. Here are some specs of this device.

Swordfish Mini Smartbook

7″ LCD screen

300MHz VIA ARM processor

128MB RAM

1GB flash storage

Windows CE 6.0 (Windows XP/ Linux optional)

802.11b/g WiFi

3 x USB, card reader, audio jacks, LAN

3G module (optional)

8 hour battery life (24 hours standby)

Weight: 0.7 kg

It’s available for the low, low price of US$149. Quite a bargain but the specs might not be to your taste unless you do really, really light computing.

The display is 7 inches but is at am 800 x 480 resolution running on Windows CE. It has the usual ports for mic and headphones, 2 USB ports, VGA out and a card reader. It seems to have a removeable battery as well. The weight is a mere 0.65 kg with a 3 hour battery life.

This should be a nice computer for the kids or those who just want a basic computer. Comes in white, pink and black and sells for 85 euro or around $120. Not sure about where and how you can get one though. A few more pics below.

Here’s something that might make you admire our friendly PC cloners in China. How’s an Eee PC 1002HA with VIA Nano CPU and VIA X855 chipset sound to you? Nope? Doesn’t sound exciting?

Well, what if we tell you that the said Eee PC 1002HA clone being featured by Shanzai.com now provides improved performance and allows you to play full HD resolution video? Now, we’re talking right?

The Eee PC 1002HA clone was a product of the GMB alliance launched last year by VIA Technologies which is formed by key manufacturing and infrastructure players in Shanzhen. The alliance aimed to gather as much followers who will move away from Intel. And the use of the VIA VX855 is being pushed by VIA Technologies to carry out their objectives.

Going back to the Eee PC 1002HA clone bearing the VIA VX855 CPU, the machine was able to playback HD video without burdening its chipset too much. This means that the machine’s CPU is free to do what it needs to do, while the VIA VX855 takes care of handling HD video playback.

The machine looks pretty much like the Eee PC S101. And since it is not yet known when this will be made available, you might want to examine other photos posted at Shanzai.
