From somewhere in China, comes a new netbook which interestingly measures only a mere 7-inch. The Fuulong Mini is from a Chinese chip maker Lemote, which I think might be a little late in coming out with the said 7-inch netbook.

But still, the netbook has something to brag about, it being probably the smallest and the lightest netbook. It measure 190 mm x 145 mm x 37 mm and weighs only .85kg.  Since this netbook is not being marketed as a prime netbook, it only comes with a 600MHz/800 MHz MIPS64 processor and not the standard Atom CPU.

Here’s our usual quick rundown of specs:

  • Loonson 2F 600 MHz-800MHz
  • 512 MB SODIMM DDR Memory
  • 7-inch display
  • 80GB HDD
  • 4 USB Ports
  • Ethernet Jack
  • Linux OS variants

Pricing though is still unavailable.

  2. The problem with all other netbooks are that they have proprietary components like wifi or bios.
Lemote Yeeloong is the first fully free software laptop. All its hardware specifications are available for free and its hardware functions perfectly with fully free software distributions like gNewSense: http://www.gnewsense.org
