Could HP be getting ready to release an Android powered netbook?
Back at CES, HP showed off a laptop that was running Google Android as the operating system. At the time, it was thought that it was more of an experiment, rather than something they might actually release. However a netbook has hit the FCC by HP, which resembles the model shown off at CES. It’s confirmed that the netbook will feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The netbook will also feature a 3G sim module and is hinted to be headed to AT&T.
If the Compaq AirLife 100 is the same netbook shown at CES and will come with Android, HP will have to make modifications to the OS, as Android was created for smartphones. Google Chrome is the netbook alternative but, a HP rep has said that Android has advantages over Chrome, specifically when it comes to touch screen support.
