Datawind Surfer Netbook Comes with Free Internet Access and Data Roaming

For the makers of the Datawind Ubisurfer netbook, it’s still not tool late for a 7-inch netbook to enter the market. Yes, while everybody else is making their netbooks with up to 11.6-inch display already, the Datawind Ubisurfer wants to stay as mobile as possible.

The good news is, while everything about this netbook may seem sub-standard, it has however some goodies that would make you notice its presence. For one thing the Datawind Ubisurfer comes with 30 hours of free internet access through a Vodafone SIM card and a built-in GPRS modem. This will cost you around $259 or £159 if you’re in the UK.

In addition, the Datawind Surfer is also packaged with data roaming capabilities with rates of 5p/minute if you’re anywhere in Europe and the U.S.

As for its specs, the Datawind Ubisurfer has the following:

  • 128MB RAM
  • 1GB Flash storage
  • Linux OS
  • WiFi
  • 3 USB ports
  • 1.8 lbs
  • comes with web browser, word processor, PDF viewer
