Dell Hints on the Release of “Dell E” Netbook by August

After some official specs of the Dell E came out not so long ago, nothing has been heard about Dell’s own entry into the netbook/low-cost PC market, until now. Digitimes is reporting on Dell’s plan of releasing a low-cost notebook which will be manufactured by Compal Electronics, sometime in August.
Of course, we don’t have to guess what this netbook is, unless Dell has changed its mind and decided to come up with another laptop product different from what we’ve heard before.
But the Digitimes report also mentioned about the price of this so called Dell low-cost notebook, which is $299. This clearly points to the rumored price of the “Dell E” netbook.
The report didn’t mention any new specs or details about the Dell E but it was said Dell is planning on releasing 2-3 million units of this netbook.
With the successive releases of the Eee PC 901, MSI Wind and Acer Aspire One, Dell should better hurry up to get a piece of the pie. If it wants to have a good market in the netbook market, the better time to release the Dell is NOW.
