Dell has just announced its new USB digital TV Tuner made specifically for their Inspiron Mini netbooks. This TV Tuner would allow users to watch broadcast TV on their Inspiron Mini’s screen. The TV Tuner would be available in various models which are specific to the broadcasting standards specific to the regions.

Among the features of the USB TV Tuner includes:

  • capable of receiving live and free over-the-air local digital and HDTV broadcasts
  • works with the Dell customized version of Ubuntu Linux version 8.04, Windows XP and Windows Vista Basic
  • comes with a built-in telescoping and articulating retractable antenna
  • can receive local broadcast standards, such as ATSC in the US, DVB-T in Western Europe, ISDB-T 1-g in Japan and CMMB in China

Expected to be released anytime this quarter in Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific and China, the USB Digital TV Tuner will have an SRP of $50.

    Will this work with the older analog signals like NTSC or NON digital cable? it is PURELY digital only …?
