Motz: are you a moron or what? AN 80 GB, analog, slow, noisy, unreliable hard disk is NOT the same as a digital, fast, silent and reliable SSD. You pay more for better technology, it's that simple. Why the hell would you want 80GB of storage on a netbook anyway? That's why you have regular PC's with terabytes of storage to jam up with porn.

What a joke, complete waste of hype in my opinion. After I customize what I want it brings the price up to $479, for the XP version 1 gig ram, bluetooth, 1.3 mp camera....and 16gig storage...really 16GB really! For an extra $20 I can get a wind with bigger screen and 80GB hard drive. Sort of a let down dell.

Well, I waited & I waited now finally the wait is over...
& my fears have been fully realised.
Only one fixed model available online (here in Ireland) - the highest spec one with XP
Only black available
Only 4 cell battery
399 Euro price tag (100 more than I'm willing to spend considering Black + 4cell + only 16GB)

It *is* the prettiest of the bunch imho - but just not worth that price tag.

Oh well. Now I have a clear choice: Acer or Eee

For the top spec 1GB memory, 16GB HD, 2.1 Bluetooth, 1.3M webcam the Windows XP version is $479 and the Linux version $494. That makes Linux the up-market choice. Go for XP if you really can't stretch to the Linux version.

I think a 6 cell battery would have me ordering a Dell. Seeing as the option is for a four cell in the top model, I will be ordering a 901 this morning to replace my 701. The eee has served me well, I am sure the 901 will continue to be good.

There is a post of interest on Dells Digital Nomad site that says tomorrow you will be able to add a Mini to the purchase of another laptop for 99 dollar.
