Dell Streak’s upcoming Android 2.1 shown to be pretty good after all

Some people might find that the Dell Streak is already a sweet device as it is, and the promise of an Android 2.2 Froyo update implies things can only get better. The only problem is, the Froyo update won’t be available yet in the UK in September, and in its place, O2 will deliver an Android 2.1 update, which has some folks wondering what good it’s going to bring. The good boys from Engadget have received the new software ahead of consumers and have finished testing it out, and now they’re reporting that it’s not a pretty bad update after all. They say, “overall this 2.1 update will still bring many great changes to the Streak” which according to them, include 720p video recording, an improved keyboard and the default Android gallery app as seen on the Nexus One, among other things. They reckon this update should be about enough to tide anyone over until the Froyo update finally arrives about a month or two following it.
