Dell to release own Asus Eee PC competitor

Looks like we’ve got another player in the low-cost laptop market. Joining Acer, HP, Asus and the others is Dell Computers who is to release its own ow-cost laptop. But this time, Dell is not going to manufacture the laptops but will sub-contract it from Compal Eletronics of Taiwan.

Compal is reported to be shipping around 200,000 units of these low-cost laptop. No pricing information available yet. No detailed information is also available. Looks like we’re going to wait for a little more while to get the full lowdown on this new low-cost laptop from Dell. We’ll keep you posted.
