Dell’s 11-inch Inspiron Mini 11z Replaces the Mini 12
Dell has just launched its new mini portable laptop dubbed the Inspiron Mini 11z. This 11-inch notebook sports almost the same form factor and build as the Inspiron Mini 10. But obviously Dell don’t want to categorize this as one of their netbooks. In fact, this could probably be the reason why Dell decided to shelve its Inspiron Mini 12 netbook recently. Because if the Inspiron Mini 12 is to stay on Dell’s stable of mini laptops they might as well call the Inspiron Mini 11z as a netbook because of its size.
But no, the Inspiron Mini 11z differs from Dell’s standard netbooks feature-wise. This mini notebook is packed with Intel 1.2GHz Celeron processor, 2GB RAM, 350GB HDD, 3-cell battery and of course a Windows Vista Home Premium with a Windows 7 upgrade option later on.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 11z retails for around $399 and if this becomes successful, we might see other netbook manufacturers towing the same line as Dell.
