Asus have been toying around with the idea of a WiMAX-capable Eee PC for quite some time now. But perhaps due to the waning popularity of WiMAX even before its prime, that Eee PC never seem to get pushed out.  Even now when Asus is participating at the ongoing Mobile World Congress, the company is highlighting the 1000HA instead, instead of the WiMAX-capable Eee PC 1000HG.

Actually, we’ve seem to have missed out on this, if not for the eagly-eyed Darren Murph of Engadget for spotting a one-line mention of the Eee PC 1000HG in Asus’ PR for the MWC.

Yes, Asus actually mentioned about the Eee PC 1000HG which is said to be equipped with both WiMAX and Wi-Fi capabilities. It features IEEE 802.16e, WAVE2 and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n supporting the 2.4GHz~2.7GHz and 5.1GH~5.8GHz.

Unfortunately, there’s not much we can deduce from this announcement. Let’s just wait for awhile and see whether Asus will make an official announcement about the Eee PC 1000HG.
