Displax makes touchscreens easy to apply via its thin film tech

Displax from Portugal is offering a thin polymer film technology with 98 percent transparency that can easily adhere to any surface, from glass to wood. They say that its very precise and versatile and can work with any screen like eInk or OLED. It will also support multitouch and uses the same projective capacitance technology found in the iPhone’s display. The thin film connects to a computer via USB and comes with its own drivers for easy installation.

They add that this would benefit manufacturers since they can easily offer touchscreen devices without any changes in their manufacturing process. Displax announced that the first screen featuring the tech will start shipping out in July 2010. Maybe they’ll offer this to consumers as well and we can mod our own netbooks without adding bulk to it. I’d like to see someone hack this and put it on something other than a screen.
