Eee PC 1000 Up for Pre-Order at Amazon

Here you go folks. For all of you who’ve wanted to have a bigger screen for you Eee PC, and held back on buying the Eee PC 901. Amazon has started accepting pre-orders for Asus answer to the MSI Wind. The Eee PC 1000 is priced at $699.99. That’s a whooping $220 price difference from the MSI Wind. You’ve got to be a real Asus Eee PC fanatic to get the Eee PC 1000 instead of the MSI Wind. Yeah, I know the Eee PC 1000’s got a 6-cell battery and is powered by Linux. But the MSI Wind’s got an 80GB HD compared with the 40GB SSD of the Eee PC 1000. And MSI promises to deliver the 6-cell battery later on. But still, if the Eee PC is you’re thing - go out there right now and start putting in your pre-order over at Amazon. The Eee PC 1000 will be available in Fine Eboy and Pearl White colors.

    Not only is a SSD a must for a subnotebook, but Eee PC’s also have their high definition sound and mac like touchpad.

    I received a response from Amazon, one of their representatives states that they don’t know when they will be having these units in stock. It’s pretty odd they’re taking “pre-orders” if they are not sure themselves if they will even have any stocks.

    The Eee PC 1000 looks amazing in whilte like a diet mac.

    It’s not about the hard drive space, it’s about the stability. If I’m going to cart this thing around everyday and do my writing in the park, the cafe on the train or whatever…I don’t want to worry about dropping it and having the HDD screwed up. With the SSD even though there’s no current power consumption bonus, there is the stability bonus.

    That’s worth the extra cash along with the 6-cell battery…because how much do you think that 6-cell MSI battery will be? $150 or so? Then it’s a $70 diff and that’s acceptable to me.

    I’ll take the Ebony Black since I’ll probably mar it up carting it all around Prague and the rest of Europe.
