Eee PC 1005HR Unboxed and Sampled with its Full HD Display

Netbooked is running an unboxing video and demonstration of the Eee PC 1005HR. If you will recall, the Eee PC 1005HR is a 10-inch netbook with full HD display at 1366×768 resolution, certainly higher than the standard 1024×600 HD display.

The Eee PC 1005HR has been outed in Japan last month but no words yet on when it will be available internationally.

Full specs of the Eee PC 1005HR include:

  • 10.1” 1366 x 768 display (glossy)
  • Intel Atom N280 processor
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi
  • GMA 950 Graphics
  • 1GB RAM
  • 250GB HDD
  • Bluetooth
  • 0.3MP Webcam
  • Windows 7 Starter OS
  • 6-Cell Battery (8.5 Hours)

1366×768 is not full HD, its HD ready only. Full HD is 1920×1080, which would be unusable on a netbook with a 10.2″ display, if any manufacturer decided to offer it.

Milen – “Full HD” is just a marketing term, nothing more. Note that, for example, some of Sony’s “Full HD” camcorders are actually just 1440x1080i. And many other “Full HD” camcorders are 1920x1080i, not 1080p.

My issue is that, compared with previous 1008s and some 1005s, Asus upped the screen resolution but lowered the webcam resolution. WTF is terrible 0.3MP webcam doing on a machine like this?…

so do i get the hr or the ha – which is best

  • Jim

ann hapney – It depends on whether a higher-resolution screen (1005HR) or higher-resolution webcam (1005HA) is more important to you. I’d wait for the 1008HR, which will have high-res screen and hi-res webcam – and be lighter and thinner…
