Asustek has decided not to push through with the planned integration on WiMAX capabilities to the Eee PC 901 even as an option to contract customers.

After a careful study of the WiMAX market, Asustek found out that WiMax will not reach its maturity stage in 2008. So Asustek decided to implement WiMAX capabilities into its 14.1-15.4 inch notebooks instead. But this is mainly for the U.S. market where WiMAX is starting to gain grounds.

Asustek’s VX2, U6 and V1 notebooks will have the WiMAX technology before the end of this year.

So, is this a good news or bad news for Asus Eee PC users? I don’t think it is a bad news though, since not all Eee PC users have WiMAX in their localities already.
