Remember that 10400mAh battery pack for the Eee PC series from DealExtreme? When reported about it not so long ago, DealExtreme didn’t exactly say how many hours the battery would last. It only stated that the battery is a 10-cell battery pack.

One of our reader Spode took the risk and bought the battery pack for his 7-inch Eee PC and posted his initial observation on his site.

Ubuntu suggested a discharge time of 6 hours and 48 minutes. Not bad at all. It’s been stuck on 100% for quite some time now without going down. In theory it should go down a percent every 4 minutes – I’ve been at least 10 and it’s still on 100%. However, Ubuntu is also showing some of the other stats incorrectly too – so maybe it is having trouble reporting full stop. I’ll have some more of a fiddle and see how long I get out of it!

So, it seems that the battery can be a good back-up battery for your Eee PC if you don’t mind carrying an extra weight on your bag. It is definitely not a replacement since, according to Spode it doesn’t fit exactly as the original Eee PC battery.

Thanks for the tip off Spode.
