Eee PC Shipments Reach the 1.7 Million Mark
Among the netbook manufacturers, Asustek perhaps hold the most number of releases since the first Eee PC model was released sometime last year. We’ve seen/heard too many variants of the Eee PC for the past couple of months that it has become harder to keep track of each one of them.
If you’re wondering how many units of the Eee PC Asustek has shipped for this year – the answer is MANY. According to Digitimes citing a Commercial Times report in, Asustek has already shipped 1.7 million units of the Eee PC for the third quarter ending September. 700,000 of these units were shipped in September alone. With this figures, Asustek is confident that the same if not more number of units will be shipped as well for the fourth quarter, considering that October and November are peak months for technology shopping.
These figures enabled Asustek to gain a gross margin of between 15-20%, which some analysts are predicting to be adjusted since the competition being posed by the aggressive marketing of the Acer Aspire One. But Asustek is confident that it can maintain the same gross margins as it banks on the sales of its 10-inch Eee PC models.
