It was surprising to know that while other netbook manufacturers are focusing on 10-inch netbook models, here comes Acer prepping up a new Aspire One netbook donning an 8.9-inch LCD panel. According to some documents submitted for approval to the FCC, the said Aspire One netbook carries the model nameAcer Aspire One Z5G.

And if you are wondering what’s so special about this Aspire One, how about if we tell you that it will be WiMAX-enabled. The FCC documents showed a built-in WiMAX modem in the netbook’s specs.

We’re thinking that this Aspire One netbook will be marketed by Acer in partnership with mobile data carriers as bundled hardware for their mobile data service plans.

No other information such as pricing and release date is available yet for this netbook. But since it has already hit the FCC, we expect to hear about this in the coming days. So, stay tune for more announcement then.
