Fixing the Eee PC 1000HE Flexing Keyboard

I wouldn’t have found out that this actually a problem/issue with the Eee PC 1000HE’s keyboard if I didn’t read about Portable Monkey’s post regarding a solution to the flexing keyboard of the 1000He. I did notice though that some parts of my 1000HE’s keyboard do flex and all along I thought it was a normal thing. I thought it one characteristic of  a chicklet keyboard.

Anyway, if your Eee PC 1000HE’s keyboard do flex, here’s a fix suggested by Peter of Portable Monkey. Insert a highly specialized double-sided thermal tape in between the chassis and the keyboard. The process entails you unscrewing your 1000HE’s keyboard and then putting the tape directly below the keyboard part that flex. The thermal tape would add some bulk and would prevent the keyboard from flexing. It is important that you use a thermal tape to prevent burning due to excessive heat.

Now Peter, throw me that spare thermal tape of yours, will you please?
