Haleron HAL tablet is no HAL 9000

While very few of our younger audiences remember the iconic computer from 2001 Space Odyssey, I’m sure Haleron didn’t. Or at least they just wanted part of their brand name on their new tablet, the iLet Mini HAL.

Taking design cues from the earlier mockups of the now-infamous Apple iPad, the HAL looks like a stretched out iPod nano complete with a clickwheel.

iLet Mini HAL

  • 7″ 800 x 480 touchscreen
  • 600MHz VIA
  • 128MB RAM
  • 2GB flash, upgradable to 32GB
  • Android OS
  • 802.11b/g WiFi, LAN,  3G USB dongle (optional)
  • 2 x USB, headphone and mic jacks, SD card slot (up to 32GB supported), internal speakers
  • 16 hours battery life
  • Colors: Black, White

The specs are pretty tame but what do you expect for something that goes for just US$199? I’ll be wary though once this thing starts talking in a soft, conversational voice and starts displaying a glowing ominous red eye.
