Hands-On: Compaq Airlife 100 smartbook
UMPC Portal was able to tinker with the new smartbook from HP that was on display at the Mobile World Congress. The Compaq Airlife 100 in a nutshell is an HP Mini 100 chassis stuffed with Android and an ARM processor to turn it into a smartbook. This means that this device weighs less than a netbook and that you can expect a long battery life while enjoying an always-on device.
They say that the build quality is excellent as well and the Android UI was well-developed. It’s set to be released by Telefonica in Spain as we mentioned earlier, likely under a contract plan.
As usual, no firm specs or release date or price tag have been revealed since it’s still in the prototype stage. I’m hoping they drop the price a bit so that people who can have an always-on notebook alternative that has a comfy keyboard attached to it.
