HiVision roll out possibly “fake” notebooks

Shenzhen HiVision have been ‘rumbled’ it seems. Engadget managed to grab a few photos of some “dodgy looking” netbooks that the Chinese manufacturer are producing.

According to Engadget, there are  a variety of fake models on offer including a HP Mini Note look-a-like.

Fortunately, these “fakes” aren’t available outside of China right now, where they should sell very well and hopefully that’s how it will stay, if indeed they aren’t the genuine article.

    fake notebooks ? interesting
so do fakes work ? as for fake watches or fake CDs?

True, it will be misleading to call them fake if they haven’t violated any copyright infringement regulations. A failed title attempt unless proven otherwise.

I’m writing this comment using one of these fake laptops by Hivision. They are totally awesome.

Firstly they are sold at 98 dollars. Look at my website for an upcomming bunch of video reviews of all the amazing upcoming ARM, DSP and MIPS based $100 laptops coming from China.

The Asus Eee is just a fake totally normal laptop. While the Hivision laptops are real innovation, take a ARM or MIPS processor, put it in a laptop form factor (with laptop sized keyboard, mouse and battery) and start making some really amazing Linux interfaces and software for it. It runs a very cool Firefox browser and has Abiword. What else would you need in a laptop?

Again look at my website http://techvideoblog.com for an upcoming bunch of awesome cheap laptop revolution videos.

Agree, if it works, it is their own engineering effort to afford the poorer community, I believe even if you copy, there are only that numbers of ways a processor, memories, graphics can be interfaced as advocated by the chip manufacturers.

As long as it works, I hope this can be marketed worldwide soonest. I will buy a few sets for my nieces and nephews straight away.
