It was a huge price drop from the previous $1064 but still not competitive enough with the prices of other netbooks in its class and range. We’re talking about HP’s decision to drop the price of its one and only netbook the Mini Note 2133 which now stood at $779. That’s around $285 difference folks. Still quite a lot of money. But seriously would you buy it considering that it’s the first generation netbook coming from HP? Alright, HP is HP but other brands can easily match up or even surpass the HP Mini-Note’s specs with their netbooks at more affordable prices.
To give you a better idea, let’s review the HP Mini Note 2133’s specs here:
- Windows Vista Business OS
- Via C7-M processor (1.6 GHz)
- 8.9-inch diagonal WXGA display
- 2GB RAM
- 120GB HD
- Bluetooth
- VGA Camera
- 6-cell battery
Three specs of the Mini-Note 2133 make it expensive – Vista, 6-cell battery and a 2GB RAM. But can’t you find other netbooks priced at below $600 which can put up with those three specs? Yes, of course. Wait, would you really want Vista running on a netbook?
Personally, the Mini Note is a great netbook – a powerful one at that. But it’s price has hindered it’s own success for nothing. With the rumored 10-inch netbook that HP is prepping up, hopefully they would release it at a more affordable price.

These keep dropping and dropping. Does that hint that the next gen are coming out? If so – hope they ditch the VIA processor in favour of something more powerful. Would be nice to see someone bring out a Core 2 Duo instead of these Atoms.
