HP’s new CEO, Meg Whitman, told reporters that they are well positioned in releasing Windows 8 machines, albeit in x86 architecture, by the holidays. This confirms, unsurprisingly, that the largest PC maker will release a product that runs in the upcoming operating system before the year ends. HP had a disappointing quarter, the CEO noted that they rely on Microsoft in coming up with good software, if Windows 8 is good, HP would have a nice day. Windows 8 is expected to be released around October 2012. Meg Whitman is hoping for Microsoft to stick to its schedule and said, ”we’re rooting for a fantastic Windows 8 product that’s out on time for holiday.”
