HP Slate vs. Apple iPad

Now that the iPad is finally out and seems to be raking both positive and negative reactions from those who bought it, HP suddenly becomes active about its would-be iPad rival – the HP Slate.

Words are starting to circulate that HP is soon launching the HP Slate. And guess what its battle cry will be? – everything that the iPad doesn’t have, the HP slate has.

So, in case you’ve hold back on buying the Apple iPad because you’re waiting for the HP Slate, Engadget got hold of an internal HP Slate presentation. But it’s not just an HP Slate presentation but rather a comparative presentation of the HP Slate vs the iPad.

I wouldn’t go into the details of how superior the HP Slate is than the iPad. With three features alone, you’d know that the HP Slate is better – two camers, Flash support and USB port.

Now for the rest of the HP Slate goodies – 8.9-inch 1024×600 capacitive multitouch screen, 1.6GHz Atom Z530 CPU with UMA graphics and accelerator, 1080p video playback, 32GB flash storage, 1GB of non-upgradeable RAM, SDHC slot, USB port, SIM card slot and HDMI out.  Given these specs, it’s pretty obvious that the HP Slate will be slightly more expensive than the cheapest iPad. Its price could go as high as $549.

No words yet on release date. Although given the buzz being generated by the iPad, I’m pretty sure HP is raring to make their Slate available the soonest time possible.
