HP TouchPad Now With Netflix Support

Shortly after a new version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was released for the HP TouchPad, another update has been rolled out. The earlier update offered hardware video acceleration.

Now, the second update, called CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 2, allows for streaming video from Netflix, the popular provider of movies and television shows for mobile devices, along with other apps with http live streaming. A fix for pixelated videos because of incorrect scaling is also included with the update.

These fixes are additions to the growing list of the Android OS offerings on the HP TouchPad. The list now includes Google Android Market, audio, video, Wi-Fi, touchscreen improvements, 2D companion core, Youtube HD, and 720p and 1080p media.

The earlier updates allow for the concealement of the navigation buttons and clock in the full screen mode, reboot recovery, ROM Manager support, and fixes for kernel crashes, graphics corruption, and some touchscreen issues.

To date, users are now only waiting for the camera feature to be fixed as well as some minor issues with Wi-Fi and other functionality to be fixed.

Users who want to update their HP TouchPads from CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 1 to Alpha 2 can use ClockworkMod to facilitate the installation.
