HP Upgrades The TouchSmart tm2

The iPad may have started the tablet rush, but there were already quite a few tablets in the market before the Apple explosion. HP’s TouchSmart tm2 was one of those tablets and its getting a well-deserved upgrade. The convertible tablet/netbook is receiving a CPU upgrade in the form of a Core i5-430UM processor that runs at 1.2GHz and has a memory cache of 3MB. That’s a nice bump up since the last upgrade also bumped up the graphics options with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 GPU.
Other features of the tm2 are the 4 gigs of RAM that can be upgraded to 8 gigs, a sizable hard drive that ranges from 320 to 640 gigs, and the usual Wifi and LAN connectivity options. It’s already available and will cost $830 for the basic model> That’s a bit pricier than the iPad, however the iPad doesn’t come with this level of performance – plus a keyboard, too.
