HTC Shows Off Flyer Tablet

Well, here’s another one joining the tablet wars. HTC’s officially announce its entry into the tablet wars: the HTC Flyer. The specs have been leaking for a few month, but now we have official confirmation.

Packing a 7″ Display and running a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon CPU, it runs on Android 2.4 – which is a rather strange choice with everyone using Android 3.0 now. It’s also got 32 GB of SSD storage, a 5 megapixel rear camera, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and, surprisingly, a stylus.

No price tag, but it’s scheduled for release in the second quarter of this year.

The 7 inch HTC Flyer which is due to be launched in Australia shortly is expected to be expensive at $895. I’ll just wait a few more days until the price will go down.

I am wondering what’s the practical thing about all these tablet pcs… There aren’t easy to trasport so from a portability scope they are nearly useless. Why should I buy a tablet pc if I’ll end up to use it in my home. My desktop can do this job better… I still haven’t met a single person who bought the ipad, used it for 1-2 months and then started to search someone to sell it.

I have a feeling the tablet market is going to get VERY crowded in the coming months. I still think Xoom is the one to beat right now!
