biggest reasons for me, well established company and the prototypes released so far have the most polished look. Also Dell has a long standing relationship with Fedora, my Linux platform of choice and place of contribution, they know how to work with Free Software vendors, so in time I hope this will be a platform I can use top to buttom with open components as well as use for some interesting personal projects.

I trust Dell to release a solid product, furthermore I trust them to have a solid roadmap to steer the platform in a desirable direction. I don't just want a continual stream of netbooks with bigger screens and bigger storage - that's just a laptop, I want a platform where I can count on upcoming generations bringing hardware and software together to unite my computing experience. Dell seems to be going in that direction.
