iPad HD for the New iPad?
“iPad HD” seems to be the possible name of the new iPad, set to be released this March 7th. This goes against earlier rumors that the new device will be called iPad 3, following the iPad 2. However, there is increasing speculation that the Apple has chosen iPad HD to be the name of the tablet, based on alleged leaks from Belkin and Griffin, two of Apple’s accessory manufacturers.
The name iPad HD had been circulating since July 2011 with rumors that the new iPhone then was to be called the iPhone 5, which turned out to be the iPhone 4S.
The iPad HD name most probably points to the new improved screen of the tablet. Called a retina display, this screen quadruples the resolution of the preceding iPad to 2048 x 1536 pixels, greatly improving the appearance of images on its screen. This makes it possible for users to play 1080p HD content on the tablet.
The new iPad is also likely to have a camera with a higher megapixel count, a faster processor, as well as a slight change in appearance.
It is expected that the tablet will be available 7 to 10 days after the product is unveiled at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California.
