Is Samsung Joining the “Let’s Bring Down the Asus Eee” Movement?

Pocket Lint is reporting that Samsung is planning to launch an education version of its Q1 Ultra UMPC as a head-on-competitor to the Asus Eee. The original Samsung Q1 UMPC currently has a price tag of £2000 in the UK market when it was launch. and Samsung is hoping to bring down that price tag to around £163 to compete directly with the Asus Eee PC.
But of course, there is a price to pay for bringing down the price of the Samsung Q1, and that is Samsung has to tone down its features first.
The Samsung Q1 is a powerful mini machine has a touch screen WSVGA 7″ LCD. A feature that the Eee PC doesn’t have. It also have a memory slot for memory expansion, preinstalled with Microsoft Vista, Intel® Ultra Mobile Processor A110 800MHz Clock 512Kb L2 Cache/400MHz FSB.
Could the Samsung Q1 Education edition succeed in getting the portable PC limelight from the Asus Eee PC? Or a better question would be, could Samsung come up with a toned down version of the Q1 UMPC to reduce its SRP? That would be interesting to find out.

I doubt that. Honestly I don’t like using Samsung computers. Basing it on experience with Samsung branded monitors, hard drives, and Optical drives, I was disappointed with the quality of it because it didn’t last that long. In terms of quality I would prefer ASUS.
