Kindle Fire 2 announcement at end of July?

We’ve heard rumors that Amazon may be getting ready to unveil a larger Kindle Fire. Currently, the Kindle Fire features a 7 inch display but, rumors suggest that Amazon will unveil an 8.9″ tablet to compete directly with the Apple iPad. According to rumors, Amazon will be holding a special event on July 31st, where they will unveil the Kindle Fire 2. The Kindle Fire 2 is suggested to feature a 7 inch display, like the previous Kindle Fire, which will compete with the recently announced Google Nexus 7 tablet manufactured by Asus.

Despite not running Google’s online services, including the “Android Market” which is now known as Google Play, the Kindle Fire has been a great success and most of that is because of the price. The Kindle Fire 2 is expected to be released with the same price tag of $199 which is also the same price as the 16GB Nexus 7 tablet.

Amazon will need to put some pretty decent specifications into the Kindle Fire 2 to compete with the Nexus 7 tablet. Hardware details are currently unknown but, the Kindle Fire 2 is rumoured to feature a higher resolution, a camera and volume buttons.
