Netbook manufactures are starting to realize that consumers are definitely feeling the economic crunch. Two cases in point, both HP and Lenovo have succeedingly lowered the prices of the netbooks.

HP was first to announce the price reduction for its recently released HP Mini 1000. From the previous published SRP of $399.99, Laptoping reported that HP will be reducing their latest netbook’s price to $359.99, down by $40. And for that price you’ll get an 8.9-inchnetbook with 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of SSD, 3-cell battery and Windows XP for OS.

Immediately after this, it was Lenovo’s turn to introduced a lower-priced S10 netbook which showed up on its online store. The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 in both Blue and Black design was not priced $449 down $10 from its introductory price of $459. And for that price you’d still get the same IdeaPad S10 with 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 10.2 WSVGA display, integrated webcam, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD and a 3-cell battery.

Interestingly, the new price cut was not applicable to the Red and Pink colored IdeaPad S10 which remains at $459.

After waiting a month. I happened to get 40% off an Aspire One six cell, so I paid $243 for mine, once the MS Live cashback comes in, roughly half the price of the NC-10.
