MacBook Air knockoff does glowing Apple logo too (in pink no less)
We’ve had a fair amount of coverage of MacBook Air clones in this site. What’s not to love about them? They have the same thin-and-light body (even lighter since it’s plastic and not aluminum) with a full-size chiclet keyboard. The price is really affordable since it’s a glorified netbook and runs lower end components, which is fine for many mobile users. Not only that, it has more than one USB port! Some even have HDMI and LAN ports. Beat that, Apple!
The cloning cycle now comes to a full circle, with some of the newest clone models sporting that ubiquitous glowing Apple logo on the lid. It even trumps the MacBook Air in that you can choose the color of the logo from pink to green. It can even be customized and you can choose from silver, white and black chassis as well as from white or black keyboards. Some specs:
- 13.3″ 1280 x 800 LCD
- 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280
- 1GB RAM
- 160GB HDD
- Windows XP or no OS
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi
- SD slot
- 2 x USB ports, HDMI out, LAN port, microphone and speaker jacks
- 3-cell battery (around 2 hours battery life)
I’ve personally handled quite a few of these and some can even run Mac OSX smoothly, turning it into an even better version of the Air. If you fancy getting one of these beauts, you will have to go to Shenzhen since I’m very doubtful your local retailer will sell these and risk Apple’s trademark hammer slamming down on them. It’ll cost you about $1700RMB ro US$249, not bad and some even offer one-year warranty for these.
