MacBook Air Styled Netbook Released – iiView A2

Coming up for release in Singapore in the next few days from the iiView company, is the ‘Airbook wannabe’ netbook the iiView A2. Priced at S$699 (around  US$465), the iiView A2 has the following specifications, which are very respectable for a netbook, especially at the price the A2 will retail at and comes with Windows 7 RC1 installed too:

  • Atom 1.6GHz processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • Intel 945 chipset
  • 12.1-inch 1,280 x 800-pixel resolution
  • 320GB HDD
  • Two USB ports, mini-HDMI port, 2-in-1 headphone/mic jack
  • 802.11b/g, 10/100 Ethernet
  • Six-cell battery

    • There is no news on whether the iiView A2 will be available outside of the Singapore yet and CNET will be reviewing the netbook soon to tell us whether the A2 would be a welcome addition to the worldwide netbook market. Once the review is live, more news is bound to follow.

      Asus is innovative as any manufacturer out there. The Air look alike is very cool. Hope it gets to the states soon. That seems to take awhile with Asus Note releases. I guess that the norm since they do most of there business overseas.

      I’ve done an Unboxing Video and a Hands On Review Video at http://BabyPC.com.au for anyone who wants to see the iiView A2 Slim Netbook.

      It is now available for pre-order in Australia and expected to be in stock after 22 Aug, and I’m sure it won’t take long before it gets to the US as well.

      eX, it weighs about 1.36 kg (including batteries). I haven’t tried to Hakintosh it yet, but I heard that it works really well (except for one issue with the WiFi driver which I believe they have found a solution for already).
