And even if netbook makers start ship them with Win7 Home Premium, that will add something like 50€ to the all thing. Not a big problem, me thinks

I don’t know anyone who bought a netbook with linux, and didn’t paved it with Windows. The simple truth is, 99% of users still want th windows OS. And that’s not going to change anytime soon.

Not if you install Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR), Moblin or Android.

The Wintel cripple netbooks strategy is shortsighted.

Netbooks and Nettops are to conventional PC’s what PC’s were to mainframes and Microsoft is playing the role of IBM or DEC. The advent of dirt cheap ARM netbooks that won’t run windows at all combined with Google’s money and brand recognition plowed into ChromeOS might well result in a change in the balance of power.
