At the ongoing Microsoft Developers Conference, a demonstration of the upcoming Windows 7 OS created a stir among tech people not only because of its sleek, light and cleaner feature but also because Windows 7 was demonstrated on a low-powered netbook.
Although still unknown which netbook Micrsoft was using, the reports said that it is your usual Atom powered 1GHz netbook with 1GB of RAM. Engadget says it looks like an Eee PC while others say it is a Lenovo S10. But whatever netbook it was, doesn’t really matter. What matter is the fact that Windows 7 will be marketed as a netbook-friendly and light weight OS different from Windows Vista.
Microsoft knows about the growing popularity of netbooks and they want to take advantage of this craze to gain significant market leverage as soon as they release Windows 7 in 2009.
So expect netbook manufacturers to come out with more netbook variants, this time pre-loaded with the Windows 7 OS.
