At first, it would seem to be a tempting offer. Imagine attending a conference where you can take home a free netbook afterwards? And it’s not just ordinary netbook, it’s the sleek looking and high-performing HP Mini 2140.

Well, that’s probably what Microsoft had in mind, announcing that it will be giving away HP Mini 2140 to attendees of the upcoming TechED Australia Conference.  During the conference, attendees will be given the option whether they want to take the HP Mini 2140  or donate it to a community sector sponsored by a Microsoft initiative. Well, this one goes out for those who have a good heart and don’t have a need for a netbook.

Either way, attendees to the TechEd even will still have to pay the conference fee of around $1,399.

What do you think? Good incentive to attend the conference? And in case you will attend, will take home the HP Mini 2140 or donate it to charity?
