You’ve probably seen or heard about the Mobinnova Beam when it was announced as Elan during the Computex 2009.   This machine which is said to be capable of giving out 5 to 10 hours of battery life when playing HD video and up to 24 hours when playing audio. It weighs only less than 2 pounds may finally come out in the U.S. under the new branding and more as a smartbook than a netbook.

Despite its 8.9-inch display, the Mobinnova Beam however will run on Windows CE which is commonly used by mobile internet devices.  The Mobinnova Beam has an Nvidia Tegra chip that powers a 3D interface and can run 720p video playback as well as Flash content.

LaptopMag is reporting that the Mobinnova Beam might likely come under subsidized plan bundled with 3G mobile data plan. But now words yet on which broadband carrier will get it.
