UPDATE: More HP Mini 210 hoopla – touchscreen, multitouch, drivers, oh my!

UPDATE: Looks like we have some good news. HP’s affiliate catalog has a bit more info we can snack on. The launch date is listed as January 7th, just a week away, which makes this first (if not one of the first) netbooks with the new Atom processor to hit the shelves. The price? $279.99 and if you get the one with the HD display, it’ll cost you $329.99. Also included were the CQ10 for $259.99

We certainly haven’t been wanting for news about HP’s Pine Trail darling and here are a couple of juicy tidbits on this new netbook. Even though HP hasn’t gone ahead and announced this netbook, they do release some tasty treats on this new Mini for us to snack on.

The user guide for this device showed up a few interesting new features for the upcoming Minis.

  • HP QuickWeb – an instant-on OS like Splashtop
  • Multitouch trackpad – There’s a trackpad toggle to turn it on/off right on the trackpad itself based on the diagram. It also shows off a few multitouch gestures like rotating, pinching and zooming.
  • Removable bottom panel – Most other HP Minis only have a small panel to access the internals. The diagram shows that the entire bottom of the netbook can be removed, possibly giving more options for replacing parts and doing modifications.
  • Touchscreen – For selected models, you’ll be able to use multitouch for on-screen navigation and supports the same gestures as above.

There’s also a support page already up at HP’s site which points to drivers for all the recent Windows systems. The drivers are for support for WiFi, Ethernet, 3G, Quick Launch, Bluetooth and others.
