More SSD Love: Intel releases 40GB disk
One of the most ideal setups for mobile work is having an SSD paired with a Pine Trail netbook or even better a CULV notebook. OCZ and Active Media, which we mentioned before, are banking on people upgrading to one of these solid state disks that gives a pleasant performance boost while keeping battery life high.
Intel gives us another option with its X25-V Value SATA SSD. The drive offers read/write speeds of 170MB/s and 35MB/s respectively. you can get it for US$125, a bit higher than the usual fare though you have the chip makers stellar reputation to rely upon. And yes, if you did a double take there, Intel does make disk drives though they don’t do the platter-based hard drives; those are so 2009.
