Motorola Ships Out Wi-Fi-only Xyboard Tablets


Motorola has e-mail its customers that it the 10.1- and 8.2-inch versions of its Xoom tablet sequel, the Xyboard, is already on shipping. The company has also made the tablets available for purchase from its webstore in two storage sizes. One has an 8.2-inch screen, while the other has a 10.1-inch display.

The Xyboard tablets use 1280×800 pixel IPS-based LCD displays that enables wide viewing angles as well as more color-accurate. The Xyboard is powered by 1.2GHz TI OMAP processors and operates Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). This is also believed to get an Android 4.0 update any time in the future.

The tablet also features a rear camera with 5-megapixel resolution, while its front camera is capable of capturing images and video in 1.2-megapixels. The 8.2-inch model also offers high-end speakers for a video-first focus.

The Xyboard 10.1-inch will sell at $600 for its 32GB and $500 for its 16GB, while the 8.2-inch Xyboard will cost $500 for 32GB and $400 for16GB. In the meantime, Motorola is offering free shipping for purchases over $75 through its site.
