Motorola XOOM 2 Landing in UAE Soon

The Motorola XOOM 2 will soon be available in the UAE from several selected major retailers. The US-based handset maker, however, hasn’t revealed the exact date of the release of the second-generation XOOM tablet, though it is expected to come one of these days.

The Motorola XOOM 2 offers several improvements to its predecessor. For one, it is 130 g lighter. The Motorola XOOM 2 has a 10.1-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a pixel display resolution of 800 x 1280. For protection against scratches, it is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass as well as a splashguard coating.

This tablet supports 3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS, and EDGE class 12 connectivity, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR. It also supports Wi-Fi hotspot, and has a microUSB and an HDMI port. Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system powers the device, and it runs on a 1.2 GHz dual core TI OMAP 4430 processor alongside a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. It also sports 16 GB of internal storage, 1 GB of RAM. It is currently unknown whether the UAE version of the XOOM 2 will carry a microSD card slot that will enable users to expand its memory.

UAE consumers will definitely welcome this portable alternative to desktop and laptop computers.
