windbox

MSI is set to release a new Atom-based computing product called the WindBox. Funny thing is, the WindBox is actually a box-like machine. According to the MSI PR, the WindBox is geared for industrial use, either for digital signage, thin client, and POS.

MSI is offering the WindBox as a fanless barebone unit equipped with the following:

  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU
  • Mobile Intel  945GSE Express chipset
  • 1GB RAM
  • Intel GMA 950 3D Graphic Engine
  • 802.11 b/g
  • 3 USB ports
  • 3-in-1 memory card reader
  • SATA II Interface

Release date for the MSI WindBox is set sometime this quarter. Pricing is not yet available. Although, we don’t really see any  personal computing application for this one.

What? This machine looks awesome. As a barebones unit, I get to choose what storage I want it to have. I don’t want an optical drive, and fanless operation is super sexy. It’s like a netbook without the display, keyboard and mouse.

  2. That’s an interesting article. I just wondered if you could tell me where to find more info on this topic ?
