MSI Wind PC benchmarked and compared with Eee PC
Posted in: MSI Wind, asus, tags: asus, benchmark, Eee PC, MSI Wind
Japanese Impress benchmarked latest MSI Wind PC and compared the performance with the other most popular mini laptops on the market.
Main test was performance of the Intel’s Atom processors with typical ULV Core 2 Duo found in ASUS Eee PC models and Sony Vaio VGN-TZ90S with Intel Core 2 Duo ULV U7600.
Leaving aside the performance of integrated graphics and storage, clearly influenced by the type of hard disk or SSD installed, it is curious to note how Atom Z520 from 1.33GHz is unable to compete against the Celeron M 353 from 900MHz Asus Eee PC 900. via [Impress]

The MSI wind is still a bang-for-buck better deal than the ever increasing priced Eeepc 901.
I don’t understand why we are comparing the performance of the MSI Wind PC, which is clearly a desktop computer, NOT a laptop, with a bunch of low-powered laptops.
The performance of the EeePC and Vaio is poor because they are very low powered devices which need to run on battery most of the time.
The MSI Wind PC, as you can see from all the photos, is a desktop computer. It’s not portable, and runs from mains power. I don’t see a fair comparison at all.
Why such a low powered processor in a desktop computer anyway? A desktop version of the EeePC is out soon (EBox?), and it will have performance an order of magnitude better than the EeePC. Surely this is what the MSI Wind PC should be compared to, not the EeePC laptop.
FJ the MSI Wind is a notebook.
