The Inquirer gives us more details about the upcoming MSI Wind, a new mini-laptop being touted as yet again another Asus Eee PC rival. To be released by June in Europe, the MSI Wind is expected to retail at around $471-1100.

  • 8.9-inch or 10-inch wide LCD
  • 1024×600 resolution
  • 80GB 2.5-inch hard drive
  • weighs 1kg
  • Windows XP OS

And this was MSI Wind’s specs before when it was announced during CEBIT:

  • 10 Inch screen
  • Intel Shelton’08 CPU with frequencies between 1.0 and 1.6GHz, depending on model.
  • 2.5″ Harddrive, SSD is not confirmed yet.
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Linux (we dont know which distribution yet).
  • 6-cell battery
  • A pricetag from 299 to 699 euros.

It looks like MSI is taking advantage of Microsoft’s extending the life span of Windows XP for a couple of years more and so it decided to release the MSI Wind with Windows instead of Linux as its OS. That explains the 80GB hard drive instead of the hard instead of the SSD.
