MSI Won’t Pull Out Wind U114 with Hybrid Storage Until October
Following previous report that MSI might actually pull out its stock of the MSI Wind U115, Netbooknews.de furnished a copy of an email sent by the MSI German office re MSI stands on the issue. If you have already forgotten, Microsoft has announced that the company will not issue Windows XP licenses for use on netbooks with dual storage (HDD and SSD) which enables users to run other OS aside from Windows XP. Companies with such kind of netbook have until end of July to recall their units with dual storage.
Unfortunately for MSI, the Wind U115 is already available in stores when this Microsoft ruling came out. Hence MSI obliged to the ruling by setting a July 15 recall dates for all its Wind U115 netbook.
Obviously, MSI is playing hard ball especially since their decision to come up with a Wind netbook sporting dual storage was not meant to allow users to dual-boot their system. MSI was only looking into the energy saving capability of a netbook with dual storage.
